Does the conversion lose quality?

No. PNG is lossless, so every pixel from the decoded source is kept exactly. The file may be larger than the original if the source was a compressed photo.

What happens to transparency?

PNG supports transparency, so transparent areas in the source are preserved.

Can I convert many files at once?

Yes, add up to 100 files and they are converted one after another in your browser. The results can be downloaded together as a ZIP.

Are my files uploaded to a server?

No. This tool runs entirely inside your browser using JavaScript. Your files are read from your device, processed in memory, and the result is handed straight back to you as a download. Nothing is transmitted, stored or logged, and the page keeps working if you go offline after it has loaded.

Questions

Frequently asked questions

HEIC is the default photo format on iPhone and iPad. It stores excellent quality in half the space of JPG, but many Windows apps, websites and older devices cannot open it. PNG is lossless and supports transparency, which makes it ideal for screenshots, logos and graphics, at the cost of larger files for photos.
