How does PNG compression work if PNG is lossless?

The tool reduces the image to an optimized palette of up to 256 colors with dithering, the same technique used by popular PNG optimizers. For screenshots, icons and graphics the result is visually identical and far smaller. Transparency is kept.

Should I convert to WebP?

WebP files are typically 25 to 35 percent smaller than JPG at the same quality and support transparency, and every modern browser displays them. Keep JPG when the image must open in older software or be printed by a photo service.

Is the EXIF data (location, camera) removed?

Yes. Metadata such as GPS location and camera details is stripped during compression, which both reduces file size and protects your privacy when sharing.

Are my files uploaded to a server?
